So, I’m ooohing and ahhhing over my phone with a co-worker, and our boss comes up and asks, “Is she showing you pictures of her children?”
“Huh? No. Bacon!”
Update: I had this carmelized bacon at a work function. I just got the recipe this morning and will share here. It is an Ina Garten recipe.
1/2 cup brown sugar, lightly packed
1/2 cup finely chopped pecans
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon black pepper
1/8 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
2 tablespoons maple syrup
1/2 pound thick sliced bacon
Preheat oven to 375. Line baking sheet (with sides!) with foil. A wire baking rack is recommended to keep the bacon out of its drippings.
Combine brown sugar, pecans, salt, pepper, and cayenne (optional). Mix in maple syrup.
Cut bacon strips in half. Line up bacon on baking rack so they are not touching. Spread mixture over bacon. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes, until the topping is brown but not burnt.
When done, move bacon to a plate lined with paper towels too cool.
Viola! Bacon crack…I mean, carmelized bacon. 🙂
